I covered a highly functional but ugly large filing cabinet with contact paper. It looks a lot better. I am waiting to see whether Girl V will notice and try to pull the paper off.
Should you attempt such a project, I highly recommend the use of an X-acto knife. Buy one when you buy the paper. I also recommend wood grain patterned paper, as it hides a multitude of sins. You would think matching up the grain would be a big deal but it looked fine even though I made no effort to match it up.
