Hubby blogs

on his newfound role as a missionary of the Catholic Church. I have gotten involved in similar conversations starting with "And what does your husband do?" Topics have included (note these are all separate people):
"I had some great teachers in my Catholic school as a kid, but then some crazy right-wingers called in the bishop because they were teaching modern Catholicism and tried to close the school. It was a shame the bishops were so backward."
"I am really interested in the Jewish roots of Christianity. I (a Christian) was once considering engagement with a Jewish man, but our faiths were so different we eventually had to break up."
"My sister wants to marry a Jew, and the priest in the Arlington diocese told her she should consider not intermarrying if she is serious about her faith! Thankfully, Msgr. Jameson at St. Matthew's hardly even asked about it."
"So, tell us about your conversion!" (Note to the well-meaning - these stories can be pretty personal, and not necessarily social chat material.)
"The Catholic Church is going to change someday, I know, when the great Jesuit priests I know are finally heard. I don't pay too much attention to the old ways, though. I was born into Catholicism, and it's just a part of me."
"So does your husband want to become a priest?"
It's so convenient that I am both an expert on Catholicism and a master of complex and stressful social interactions! I'm sure these questions would stump me otherwise.
